Birds And Horses

I went birding the other day on the outskirts of Sylvandale Guest Ranch. There is a bridge across the Big Thompson River that is great access to photograph American Dippers.
These two beauties were very curious about what I was up to. I was carrying my scope with the tripod legs extended so I wasn’t “normal” looking. After I talked to them, they lost interest, and proceeded to go back to their naps in the sun.
I found Dippers. Such wonderful creatures, there were about 3 or 4 of them darting about. Unfortunately the light wasn’t that great.
But then the sun came out. I found this napping Mallard female.
And this gorgeous preening male. I especially love the orange feet in the river.
On another place I found this Starling.
Keeping it’s little feeties warm while waiting for bugs the horses disturb in the grass while grazing.
Smart little birdy.
